Many, people ride holding their legs and feet far AWAY from the horse’s sides. Your legs and feet need to be relaxed and resting close to the horse. If they aren’t, it messes up your timing. You need to be able to apply your feet or spur the split second you feel the horse begin to lose impulsion.
Notice the number of times this horse stops. Also notice my stopping cue is invisible to the uneducated eye.
